We have been blessed by having seven Golden Retrievers over the 43 years we have lived in our house, and every one of them was a gift from God. Because we see God’s hand in bringing each dog into our lives as a member of our family, we hold onto the hope that we will be reunited with them when Jesus comes back to take us to be with Him in Heaven. From Jan and my conversations with other pet lovers, we see that we are not alone in this hope of spending eternity with those with whom we have had such a profound love relationship. Christian pet lovers treasure such hope, but is that hope supported by Scripture? I have researched this question by conferring with theologians, studying what the Bible and Bible Commentaries has to say about this, and reading what other pet lovers have concluded from their study of Scripture. I don’t claim what you are about to read is a definitive study of the subject, but I have found my conclusions to be able to satisfy my soul and give me peace about this and wanted to share them with you in the hope that you too will find peace from its findings.
